Solution Delivers Reliable and Cost Effective Disaster Recovery
Burlington, MA - March 29, 2005 - Bus-Tech®, Inc., a leading supplier of data center connectivity products, and Diligent Technologies, a leading enterprise data protection software provider for mainframe and open systems environments, today announced product certification and qualification of Diligent's Virtual Tape Facility Mainframe (VTF™ Mainframe) with Bus-Tech, Inc.'s zDASD 3990 Controller delivering greater-capacity and performance while providing customers significant cost savings for their tape-based backup and recovery needs. Available using either ESCON or FICON connectivity, the combined solution is already providing customers a superior level of data reliability, performance and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional mainframe tape library systems.

Data written by the mainframe to Bus-Tech, Inc.'s zDASD devices is stored on open-systems storage in such a way as to allow the data to be retrieved in exactly the same format as it was stored. This makes it transparent to the mainframe hardware and/or operating systems that the data has been stored on open-systems storage rather than traditional and expensive mainframe storage. Diligent's VTF Mainframe solution allows mainframe environments to seamlessly implement a disk-based backup and recovery solution on all industry-leading open systems disk solutions at an attractive price point. With the Bus-Tech, Inc./Diligent solution, mainframe customers are provided a greater level of data reliability, performance and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional mainframe tape library systems. This combined solution enhances backup and recovery, space management and batch processing by implementing online disk subsystems to store data that generally resides on mainframe tape. By choosing this solution, customers are afforded virtualization capabilities at significantly reduced costs.
