One solution solves multiple datacenter challenges
The Mainframe Data Library (MDL) is a family of Virtual Tape Library controllers for IBM compatible and Unisys 2200 mainframes. All MDL products are powered by Bus-Tech's Virtuent software engine and can be combined in highly modular solutions that scale easily to satisfy the most demanding mainframe tape requirements. An MDL solution provides enterprise data centers with lower tape processing costs, improved end-user service levels, innovative disaster recovery alternatives, and the ability to include compliant storage in their mainframe environment.
MDL-6000
The MDL-6000 is Bus-Tech's premier Enterprise Virtual Tape Library and can deliver more than 1.5 GBytes of data per second and scales from 6 FICON channels and 768 tape devices to 12 FICON and 1,536 tape devices. The MDL-6000 includes a minimum of 3 redundant, independently operating emulation nodes (6 max); 2 redundant Access Control Point (ACPs); and the ability to attach large-scale storage arrays.
MDL-4000
The MDL-4000 is designed for high-availability and can deliver more than 1 GByte of data per second and scales from 4 FICON or 6 ESCON channels and 512 tape devices to 8 FICON or 12 ESCON channels and 1,024 tape devices. The MDL-4000 provides a minimum of 2 redundant, independently operating emulation nodes (4 max); 2 redundant Access Control Point (ACPs); and the ability to attach large-scale storage arrays. An MDL-4000 can be field upgraded to an MDL-6000 if processing requirements increase.
MDL-2000
The MDL-2000 is ideal for small- to medium-sized businesses and provides 2 FICON or 2 to 3 ESCON channels and emulates up to 256 tape devices. MDL-2000 is capable of delivering up to 300 MBytes of data per second and supports either IP, deduplication, compliant or Fibre Channel (SAN) attached storage. Multiple MDL-2000s can be used together for a high-availability solution

MDL-1000
The MDL-1000 provides 1 FICON channel, emulates up to 256 tape devices, and is capable of delivering more than 100 MBytes of data per second. Multiple MDL-1000s can be combined into a single virtual library to scale channel count, device count, and performance.
MDL-100V
The MDL-100V is available with either FICON or ESCON configurations and is designed to process mainframe tape data to an industry-standard distributed system VTL platform. It delivers a converged backup solution for both mainframe and distributed system data while reducing the amount of data stored through the de-duplication processing in the VTL engine.

MDL-100S
The MDL-100S boasts self-contained storage and multiple data protection options which provide a complete and affordable turn-key solution for mainframe tape replacement. It is available in both FICON and ESCON configurations, 4.5 TB of RAID protected storage and is targeted to the smaller mainframe installations.
