Access your existing open systems storage with the zDASD 3990 Controller

Bus-Tech now offers its zDASD controller allowing IT administrators to deploy open systems disks as mainframe-attached DASD. The zDASD supports both FICON and/or ESCON channel attachment to the mainframe on the front end while connecting to both new and previous generation open systems disk arrays via ultraSCSI, Fibre Channel, and IP (NAS) on the back end.

Emulate up to 512 IBM 3390 data volumes

The zDASD 3990 Controller is a System/390 input/output controller providing FiCON or ESCON attachment to the mainframe and Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, or Ultra320 SCSI connection to open-system storage devices. The zDASD controller emulates up to 512 IBM 3390 data volumes including models 3, 9, 27 or 54.

Data written by the mainframe to zDASD devices is stored on open-systems storage in such a way as to allow the data be retrieved in exactly the same format as it was stored; making it transparent to the mainframe hardware and/or operating systems that the data has been stored on open-systems storage rather than traditional mainframe storage.
