Are you supporting separate processes for backing up your mainframe and distributed system servers?
Companies with mainframe tape needs can add mainframe connectivity to their existing distributed system backup process.
Converged Mainframe and Distributed Backup
Historically, mainframes and distributed system servers have maintained separate backup processes. Today, with the ever-increasing role of distributed systems in the enterprise, substantial cost savings can be realized by combining all of your servers into a single backup process. With the MDL 100v system, you can simply add the mainframe server to the backup process you currently use for your distributed systems. This will leverage your existing infrastructure and skill set to have a common process for all of your servers in a single, simplified operation.
Data Deduplication
Deduplication is simply the elimination of redundant data that exists in every enterprise: minor variations of the same document, multiple copies of a single document, forgotten files and folders, and more. Data deduplication can have a significant effect on your storage budget. First there is the drastic reduction in the amount of storage space needed; in some cases as much as 90% of backup data would be eliminated. As a result, transmission costs for data replication can be greatly reduced. Data can be safely and securely replicated to a secondary site with greater speed and accuracy, improving your Recovery Time Objective (RTO).
