Symptom Symptom: MAS devices cannot be varied online. The ESCON adapter's LEDs display the message "Channel Online - nn Connections Open". Resolution "nn Connections Open" tells us that the MAS application has come up configured for nn devices. "Channel Online" means that the ESCON adapter is successfully communicating with the mainframe channel. The most common cause of this problem is a misconfiguration of one or more ESCON channel parameters in the MAS devices configuration. You can display the current parameters with the following command: q configIndex UA Type CU LPAR Port ------------------------------- Current Values Are: 01 90 3480 04 01 01 NAME=E990 PATH=/tapelib/ VOL=BT T=0 02 91 3480 04 01 01 NAME=E991 PATH=/tapelib/ VOL=BT T=0 Verify that Unit Address, Control Unit Address, LPAR, and Port values exactly match the mainframe configuration.
