"Font not Found" Error Message When
Starting konsole Terminal Session
Symptom
When starting a konsole terminal session, an error box with the
following error message pops up:
'-misc-console-medium-r-normal--16-160-72-72-c-160-iso10646-1'
not found. Check README.linux.console for help.
Resolution
This problem can occur when the MAS is used with an older monitor
that does not support automatic monitor detection. The easiest
solution is to replace the monitor with a new model (less than
five years old).
In the meantime, you can simply ignore this error message by
clicking 'OK' to continue. You will have to do this every time
you start a terminal session.
You can also configure the MAS to be compatible with your older
monitor with this circumvention. Be aware, however, that if you
make this configuration change the MAS may not be compatible with
a newer model monitor that you may connect later.
1. Right click anywhere inside the konsole terminal session screen.
2. On the pull down menu choose 'Settings', then choose 'Fonts'.
3. Change the font from 'Linux' (check box) to 'Custom'.
This will change the font for this session ONLY.
To make it stick:
4. Right click again on the konsole terminal session screen.
5. On the pull down menu choose 'Save Settings'.
