Message: "System disk RAIDs are not mirroring properly"

Symptom

The following error messages are displayed every time the MAS is restarted:

btivts: System disk RAIDs are not mirroring properly
btivts: Tape Library filesystems are likely mounted on the wrong disk drives
btivts: Enter Y if you're sure you want to proceed anyway (not recommended)
btivts: Enter anything else to cancel (recommended)

Resolution

Normally, these messages are displayed when one or more of the MAS system disk RAIDs is not functioning properly.

However, in MAS releases 3.06-02 and prior, these messages might also be displayed erroneously if additional software-controlled RAID(s) (MD devices) have been added to the MAS by the user. If this is your situation, please contact Bus-Tech Support for a patch to resolve this problem.

You can verify at any time whether or not the three MAS system RAIDs are functioning correctly:

  • Open a superuser terminal session on the MAS.  howto

  • Enter the following command to check and optionally repair the MAS system disk RAIDs:
    btiraid

Each of the three MAS system disk RAIDs will be checked to make sure that they are functioning correctly. If btiraid encounters no problems it will tell you that everything is functioning correctly.

If btiraid encounters a correctable problem, it will prompt you as to whether you want to correct the problem -- reply 'Y' to correct the problem or 'N' to continue without correcting the problem.

If btiraid encounters a problem that is not easily correctable, it will display a message to that effect. Please contact Bus-Tech support for more assistance.
