MAS Fibre Channel World Wide Name (WWN)

Note 1: As of MAS release 3.05, you will find a pre-installed script, showfc, that will display all this information about your fibre-channel adapters. To run the script, open a terminal shell session and enter the following command:
showfc
Otherwise, refer to the following instructions to show your fibre-channel adapter information.

Note 2: If for some reason the fibre-channel adapter drivers have failed to load properly on your MAS, or you wish to determine the adapter information without booting the MAS to a fully operational state, you can use this procedure to directly query the hardware for the WWN and other information.

To determine the World Wide Name of the MAS Fibre Channel port(s), use the following procedure:

  • At a terminal shell prompt, enter the following command:
    ls /proc/scsi/qla*/?
The system will display an entry for each fibre-channel adapter installed in the MAS. For example, if there were one QLA2200 and one QLA2300 installed, you would see output similar to the following:
    /proc/scsi/qla2200/2
    /proc/scsi/qla2300/3
Each file listed contain detailed information about one of the fibre-channel card(s) installed in the MAS. Your file name(s) may differ; use your proper file name(s) in the following steps.
  • To see the information about each card, use the cat command on each of the files listed above. For example:
    cat /proc/scsi/qla2200/2
The output will be similar to the following:

QLogic PCI to Fibre Channel Host Adapter

Firmware version: 2.01.37, Driver version 5.36.3
    Entry address = e0844060
    HBA: QLA2200 , Serial# C51731
    Request Queue = 0x1fa50000, Response Queue = 0x1fa6c000
    Request Queue count= 512, Response Queue count= 64
Number of pending commands = 0x0
Number of queued commands = 0x0
Number of free request entries = 511
Number of mailbox timeouts = 0
Number of ISP aborts = 0
Number of loop resyncs = 0
Number of retries for empty slots = 0
    Number of reqs in retry_q = 0
    Number of reqs in done_q = 0
    Number of pending in_q reqs = 0
    Host adapter: state = DOWN, flags= 0x2020835

    SCSI Device Information:
    scsi-qla0-adapter-node=200000e08b0353d7;
    scsi-qla0-adapter-port=210000e08b0353d7;

    SCSI LUN Information:
    (Id:Lun)

Note the adapter-node and adapter-port entries which have been highlighted in the example above. These are the World Wide Node Name (WWNN) and World Wide Port Name (WWPN) for this adapter.
  • If you have additional cards, repeat the cat command on each of the files to see the additional cards' information.

If for some reason the fibre-channel adapter drivers have failed to load properly on your MAS, or you wish to determine the adapter information without booting the MAS to a fully operational state, you can use the following procedure to directly query the hardware for the WWN and other information.

During the boot process, when "Press <CTRL-Q>" appears on the monitor, press <CTRL-Q>. This will display the Qlogic Fast!UTIL configuration menu.

The first option, "Configuration Options", will be highlighted. Press <Enter>.

The first option, "Host Adapter Settings", will be highlighted. Press <Enter>.

On this screen, the adapter's WWN is displayed as "Adapter Port Name".
