Synchronizing the MAS
with a Time Server
If you have a NTP (Network Time Protocol) server available on
your network, it is always a good idea to synchronize your
MAS with the time server. This ensures that the clock on the MAS
matches the rest of your system, so that timestamps on files,
messages, logs, etc., are in sync with everybody else.
The MAS is not factory-configured to synchronize
with an NTP server by default. Follow these instructions to
set up your MAS to synchronize with your NTP time server.
On the MAS console, press the <ALT+F2> keys to bring up the
"Run Command" dialog box:

Enter "yast" in the Command prompt and press <Enter>.
You will be presented with a prompt to enter the root user's
password:

Enter the root user's password and press <Enter>.
This will bring you to the YaST Control Center main screen:

On the left panel, click "Network Services", then in the right
panel click "NTP Client".
You will be presented with the NTP Client Configuration screen:

Click the "When Booting System" button, then enter the
IP address of your NTP time server at the "NTP Server" prompt.
Click "Finish". Your new settings will be saved, and the MAS
will start using the specified time server to synchronize its
clock. (If the MAS time is significantly different from the
time server's clock, the MAS time will be adjusted slowly
over time rather than making a major jump.)
